Welcome to Ready In Real Life (Ready IRL). We're here to help you prepare for all kinds of emergencies, from personal and household emergencies, to regional and national emergencies, to natural disasters.

Building Readiness, One Person at a Time

At Ready IRL you'll find tools and training to help you ready yourself. We've designed a simple system (coming soon!) for getting you started and encouraging you to prepare in real life. The essential building block of prepared communities is prepared individuals and households. As Ready IRL grows we intend to help you access your community's resources and make you an active contributor to its readiness.

How do Digital Tools Help in Real Life?

The digital world is as fragile and fraught with disasters as the real world, but we want you to have access to your preparedness information even when the power is out or the Internet is down.

Our system includes tools to mix your digital and physical preparedness. We don't want you to invest your time preparing, only to have the power go out and not have access to any of your resources. Even worse, if you make a plan that no one in your household knows about or has access to then they will struggle when you're away or unavailable.

We strive to make all our resources both printer-friendly and freely available. If you want to prepare on your own we support you, but we know it can be overwhelming. Our tools will guide you through data gathering and preparedness education one step at a time, but if you prefer it you can print out DIY templates (coming soon!) and work through them at your own pace. We respect your privacy and you won't have to sign up for a newsletter or share your contact information to get started. Best of all, if you change your mind we're here to help digitize the information you gathered using a template.

How Do I Start? Preparedness Resources are Overwhelming!

We understand how overwhelming preparedness can be. There are so many questions to answer, supplies to gather, and an enormous number of resources from institutions of all sizes that makes preparedness a daunting task. It feels like entering a large library and realizing that you don't know how to read yet, much less how to use the index or find the information that is relevant to you. Then after you have unlocked the basics it feels like drinking from a fire hose!
